He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, working in both the local church and the Virginia United Methodist Conference. He also never gave up his love of learning and enjoyed studying the stock market and earth science. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, and his main hobbies were bow hunting, gardening, riding motorcycles, and, in the latter part of his life, ATVs. His family was the most important part of his life, and no matter how long he worked, he always took time for the raising of his children. The first half of his 46-year work career was spent predominantly in bridge construction and the last half was mostly supervising treatment plant construction along with work on the Richmond Flood Wall, and early stages of construction of Wintergreen and Massanutten Ski Resorts. DC Power Jack: It is possible to use the DC power Jack as power supply. The standard USB connection delivers 5V and allows you to draw 500mA in total. USB cable: The most popular and also the easiest way to power the microcontroller is via USB cable.Like the Arduino Uno, you can power your Arduino Mega in three save ways because a voltage regulator provides a regulated and stable voltage for the ATmega2560 microprocessor: In my opinion you should be save to draw a current up to 100mA. The LP2985-33DBVR has a maximum output current of 150mA but on the official Arduino website, the maximum current is limited to 50mA. The maximum current draw from the USB connection is therefore reduced to 500mA.īecause the Arduino Mega has 3.3V pins to supply external electrical devices, there is a second voltage regulator build in, that reduces the voltage from 5V to 3.3V. There is no need for a voltage regulator because the USB connection is already regulated by the USB output from your PC or laptop. The Arduino Mega can also be powered via the USB port. The maximum output current of the LD1117S50CTR is 800mA. Besides a higher input voltage than 12V has no advantage. But an input voltage between 7V and 12V is recommended to use the Arduino Mega over an extended period of time because otherwise the voltage regulator produces a lot of heat that can damage the microcontroller. The LD1117S50CTR provides a stable 5V output for the ATmega2560 and has a maximum input voltage of 15V. It will probably work in a lot of two-story homes as well.īut, a lot of the low online ratings for Verizon Home Internet stem from complaints about the Wi-Fi range. If you live in a one-bedroom apartment or a single-story home, the built-in Wi-Fi router probably will be just fine for you. In any case, I’m not really counting this against Verizon, because I wouldn’t expect a built-in Wi-Fi router with no external antennas to have as good a range in a two-story home as a dedicated Netgear router with three external antennas! Perhaps there was some new signal interference from a neighbor? Inside my home the signal strength was fine. I noticed it when my outdoor Ring cameras went dead due to low Wi-Fi signal. After a month though, my signal strength inexplicably fell off a cliff. For the first month, it worked great, with good signal strength that reached throughout my two-story home and even into my garage below that. The Built-In Wi-Fi Router: Understanding Its Limitsīecause the Verizon Home Internet Gateway box includes a built-in Wi-Fi router, I went ahead and tried it out. Check the Verizon website to see if you’re in range. I must stress though that your mileage may vary depending on how far away you live from your closest cell phone towers and how many other people are using that tower at that time.Īnd, not everyone can get 5G Home Internet. Note that other folks are able to get faster Internet speeds with cable. That was one of the things that made a wireless Internet solution appealing to me. Over the past year, my cable download speed had been around 90mbps, probably due to deteriorating coax cabling in my home. My typical Verizon 5G download speed results Speed test of Verizon 5G Home Internet showing 238.82 download Mbps and 9.14 Mbps upload, 22ms ping, 145ms download latency, 34ms upload latence I’ve been using the service for almost a year now and my typical download speed is between 240 and 280 Mbps. I immediately measured download speeds of 300 Mbps – the max speed of my plan! I was amazed to be getting this from basically a cell phone signal! Note that the cheapest plan is now limited to 100 Mbps, but this is still plenty of bandwidth for most people. But you can download the manual for the ARC model or for the ASK model. You can also set up the box via Wi-Fi using the settings printed at the bottom of the unit.Īside from the quick start card, no manual was included with the unit. Voila! I was up and running in minutes! Wow! When it was done, I connected an Ethernet cable from the gateway to my computer and used the web app to set up my Wi-Fi network name and password. I plugged in power and waited for it to boot up and configure. That should make it unnecessary for a good number of people to have to buy an additional router. I wasn’t even aware of this when I ordered the service, but the unit includes a built-in Wi-Fi router! I also love the fact that the box has two Ethernet ports. Setup and InstallationĪ few days after I ordered the service, I received the Verizon Home Internet Gateway, a clean white cube with a power jack and two Ethernet ports… and no cable going to Verizon! Everything you get with the Verizon 5G Home Internet Gateway If you want up to 300 Mbps download speeds, you can get the 5G Home Plus plan for $80/month or $70/month with autopay, or $45/month with a qualifying cellular plan. If you have a qualifying Verizon wireless plan you can pay as little as $35/month. That is still a good deal for many folks, since 100 Mbps is plenty of bandwidth for households with one or two people. The lowest plan is $60/month or $50/month with autopay, limited to 100 Mbps download speed. In August 2023, Verizon changed its pricing structure. Could this have as much bandwidth as a direct cable connection? Keep reading. The Verizon Internet Gateway box even has a phone number assigned to it! If this sounds disconcerting to you, it did to me also. It’s very much like using a cell phone as an Internet hotspot. With Verizon 5G Home Internet, you get your Internet access through an Internet gateway box that communicates with the nearest Verizon cell tower wirelessly. If both entertainments belong to the same player, the player cannot replace a ticket office. If the two entertainments belong to different players, the player must replace one of the wickets with his own. If a seat is owned, a player can either replace that ticket office with their own ticket office or place their ticket office in the vacant seat. If an amusement of the combination on the card is not in possession, the player must place one of his wickets on this seat: he now has this amusement. An expanded version of the rules gives players several ways to avoid bankruptcy, which lengthens the game a bit. The game is over when the first player runs out of money, which happens surprisingly quickly. Like the original Monopoly, it allows kids to practice counting and arithmetic, but the numbers have been simplified to make the game easier. This version of Monopoly should last less than an hour. Monopoly Junior is a child-friendly version of the classic family game. You might even sneak into a lesson about the benefits of ownership and the importance of a monopoly. All other players add up their money and the player with the most money wins.Ĭhildren still practice some essential skills, including taking turns, counting money, and perhaps most importantly, losing gracefully. If a player runs out of money, the game ends. Players who land on “Go To Lunch” pay $3 to the bank, then move the pawn directly to lunch without handing over “GO” or collecting $2. Washrooms will be replaced with lunch areas. Uncle Pennybag`s Loose Change is now called Mr. When this happens, the player with the most money is the winner of Junior Monopoly. The game continues with money exchanged back and forth until a player is exhausted. Whatever the consequences, follow the instructions in the room where you land. Your car is parked in different places and this shows the complexity of the game. The game would significantly change for the next release in 2013.Each move is played in the same way, with one player rolling the dice and moving that number of squares. However, stating that this game can be played with up to 8 players is impossible. This was the label seen on classic Monopoly sets. The game is mistakenly labelled as for 2 to 8 players and 8 years and up. The 2011 release has an error on all boxes. This was the first Monopoly in my collection. Rich Uncle Pennybags has been rebranded to Mr Monopoly. Slight redesign, although the game remains identical. This change survives until 2013 when the board changes for the first time. The board shape changes from square to rectangular. This change can still be seen with the latest release of Monopoly Junior. The box has changed shape from long to square. The game ends when one player goes bankrupt, all players then add up their cash totals and whoever has the most is declared the winner. Landing on ‘Fireworks’, ‘Water Show’ or ‘Take a trip to the cafe’ means you have to pay a fee, which is placed in Rich Uncle Pennybag’s loose change (later Mr Monopoly) – this can be won by landing on his square. Instead of purchasing railways, landing on this space allows you to roll again. Rent is the purchase price (or double if they own both in the colour set). If you land on an amusement with a different colour ticket booth, you must pay rent. If you land on an amusement without a ticket booth, you must purchase the attraction by paying the fee and placing your coloured ticket booth on the space. Players then take turn moving around the board with one die. The rules are as follows: All players choose a colour and take that colour’s car token and 10 ticket booths (12 for a two player game). Despite many changes to the box design, and small cosmetic modifications to the contents, the game was unchanged from release in 1991 until 2011. Monopoly Junior can be played with 2, 3 or 4 players. Classic Monopoly was advertised as a board game for ages 8 and above, whereas, Monopoly Junior is designed for ages 5 to 8. In 1991, Monopoly Junior was released to the UK Market. If you notice you do not often push, drop to a lower ratio. This works well if you usually push at the end of a run. A good starting point is to go with a ratio of 0.5. This depends on your personal play style. If you level a hero beyond level 8,000 and cannot afford a better hero that has a lower level, then check this box. This affects the optimal distribution of ancient levels. After level 8,000 their damage increase factor is reduced. Level 8,000 is the last level where heroes get a x10 multiplier to their damage. What does this "best hero will be leveled beyond 8,000" mean? Secondly, when you have only few souls to spend the predicted cost is accurate as far as the cost formulae go there appear to be some issues in-game where an ancient sometimes costs one soul less or more than it should. Only the predicted cost becomes more accurate. This approximation is accurate enough to yield very good recommendations calculating it precisely often does not actually make a difference in regard to the number of levels recommended. After buying the recommended ancients, why do I have more souls left over than the calculator predicts?įirstly, when you have many souls to spend the calculator will over-estimate the cost of a few ancients with a "difficult" cost formula. This means that one level in Morgulis costs less than one soul when buying in bulk. If you have the outsider Chor'gorloth leveled, all ancients become cheaper, including Morgulis. Why does the calculator tell me to level Morgulis more than I am able to? Paste the number you just copied into this field, and press "Ok". If you hold "v" when clicking on the corresponding ancient's purchase button, an input field will pop up. If you press on the number in the change field, the number changes to a long format and is automatically selected for copying. I'm sorry, but going purely active just doesn't seem worth it.What is the easiest method to level ancients? Lets look at the time it would take though 203 ascensions times 1.5d days on average = 304 days, purely active would probably be around 202 ascensions times 12 days average = 6.64 years. Lets say going purely active I might have gotten to where I am in only 202 ascensions. Hybrid means I can ascend roughly 8 times in the time it would take to do one ascension as active. But the fact that I lose 0.1% at the gain of going 8x faster, it seems like a gain. Yes because I'm hybrid I may gain on average 0.1% fewer zones that I otherwise would as purely active. Since I go Hybrid and Time Lapse through the first 2,800,000 Zones, each ascension only takes about 48hours. If I were to go pure active it would take me approximately 16 days per ascension. I'm curious what is your max zone? Given your dps, I'm guessing you're in the very early gain. Please use our recruitment subreddit for all recruitment or searches. He also thought that things in the book, like laughter, meditation, and spiritual connection, could apply to any age,” Schwartz recounted. I was very happy to talk about how to approach the issues he was thinking about. I had studied philosophy at university, so I like abstract thinking, figuring things out. “During those four months he was writing this book, it was exactly when I was living at home, and so we discussed his ideas on a daily basis. Schwartz recalled, “It’s very sad to think about what my dad had to suffer through, but the dignity he showed and the bravery was so inspiring for so many people we can take comfort in that.”Īt the time Morrie that had been working on his book about the aging process, his younger son, Rob, had been traveling in Asia and had just returned home to Boston in the summer of 1989. If I can’t control the illness, I’m not going to let it control my moods, attitudes, and emotional states.’ As it became more difficult for me, I became more determined to learn something, to derive some benefit from this misery.” I’m going to fight to regain my foothold in life. “I also remember the small voice in me saying, ‘No, I will not quit. I remember the pull just to ‘give up’ – surrender to the illness and sink into inactivity, depression, and minimal existence. In it, he writes, “After retirement, I faced the question: ‘What should I do with the rest of my life?’ I recall, at the height of my struggle with asthma, trying to fight off despair about ever getting back to a place where I was content with my functioning and my feelings. THE BOOK The Wisdom of Morrie was initiated by a friend who suggested that Morrie write a book about aging after his retirement at 70 from Brandeis University. My father was an academic, although The Wisdom of Morrie is not an academic book,” he pointed out. Tuesdays is a very slim volume with a very concise use of words. But they’re very different books in fact, opposite in style. Both have the same thing at their core – my father’s philosophy about life. “The warmth that comes through with the student-teacher relationship is also the way that my father relates to people. “That’s why editing was so important,” he said, calling The Wisdom of Morrie bookends to Mitch Albom’s memoir. Schwartz noted that as an academic, his father could be wordy. People find it unbelievable, since my father is a public figure through Tuesdays with Morrie, that he didn’t know how to publish a non-academic book in the 1990s, so the book just sat there.” By the time I found the manuscript, Tuesdays with Morrie was a huge success. In 1992 he put it in a desk drawer, and nobody thought about it until I found it 10 years later. My father wrote this book from first to last before I started to edit it. “I certainly have been working very hard to get the word out about The Wisdom of Morrie. “I would like to say no, but perhaps the answer is yes,” Schwartz laughed while on vacation in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Having been made into a movie, an off-Broadway play, and performed in multiple languages on stages across the globe, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that there’s some pressure on Rob Schwartz in undertaking the editing of his father’s last book. Tuesdays with Morrie far exceeded anyone’s expectations, staying on the bestseller charts for years, selling more than 18 million copies to date. Schwartz is mindful that Tuesdays with Morrie was one of the best-selling books of the 20th century, a memoir that made his father posthumously a household name.
